Arjuna was trained by Lord Mahadeva Himself. see here
ARJUNA TOLD UTTAR THAT ONE OF HIS PRECEPTORS IS LORD MAHADEVA HIMSELF.
Narr:- Trained in arms by the preceptor Drona, by Sakra, and Vaisravana, and Yama, and Varuna, and Agni, and Kripa, and Krishna of Madhu's race, and by the wielder of the Pinaka (Siva), why shall I not fight with these? Drive thou my car speedily, and let thy heart's fever be dispelled.'

Narr:- I have learnt weapons from Sakra, Vayu, and the manifest Siva; and all the celestials with Indra also have been pleased with me, on account of my good behaviour, and concentration.'
SIVA TEACHING ARJUN
Siva taught Arjuna two more Vidyas
in Archery:
in Archery:
* All archers may know Prayoga, the first vidhi in
Dhanurveda.
Dhanurveda.
* Many will know Upsanhara, the second vidhi (also
called recall),
called recall),
* still many will know Avarti (distress prevention)
vidhi.
vidhi.
Only Arjuna knew the fourth and fifth vidhis of
the Dhanurveda, thanks to Siva.

* Even Drona did now know the fourth one (He got
his curse on 14th night/15th morning for not
knowing this). That is Prayashachita.

This enables the Archer to bring back to life in
case an innocent is killed by the Astra. Arjuna
with the knowledge of this Vidya can shoot and
use astras regardless of consequences on a large
mass of soldiers and would only kill the enemies
and can utilize the power of Astra to keep his
soldiers and innocents alive. Arjuna never needed
to use it for variety of reasons he later explained
in Udyoga Parva. (Vana Parva Chapter 168.)

* The icing on the cake was the fifth Vidhi,
Pratighaat.
Pratighaat.
This vidhi enabled the Archer to utilize the power
of the enemy’s astra, any astra and turn it back
on the enemy literally taking over the power of
the astra fired by the enemy and reversing it.

Vayu is lord of the vidhi and Vayuputras inherit it.
Hanuman was unbeatable if you fired divine
astras at him and so was Bhima.
astras at him and so was Bhima.
When Asvwathamma fired the Narayanastra, the
way to defeat it was to give up arms. But one
man did not. Bhima. Bhima knew that he can
absorb and reverse the Narayanastra. That was
the reason why Krishna and Arjuna forced Bhima
down for Bhima would turn it back and
Narayanaastra would go unchecked and would
destroy the world. Asvwathamma was very bad at
upasanhara!

* Arjuna vs. Bhargavas!!
Indra then sent Arjuna after Nivatakavachas and
gifted him his old ratha.

The current Ratha of Indra had Green colored
horses while the old Ratha had horses with
peacock feather colors (MayuraRoma). Indra had
used this Ratha to defeat and kill Shamabarasura,

(Here in Vana Parva chapter 168, Indra killed a
Narakasura and later chapter 211, we find the
huge bones of Narakasura killed by Vishnu and of
course Krishna killed a third Narakasura!)

In chapter 171, during the battle with
Nivatakavachas, the Neelakantha commentary
(which is used by Sanskrit Clay Library for Vana
Parva) points out that Arjuna while fighting the
Nivatakavachas with one hand, managed to lift
the chariot wheels out of Earth they had stuck in
on Ocean floor.

With the skilled charioteer at helm, Arjuna was
able to destroy and kill the Nivatakavachas single

In his description of battle, Arjuna emphasized
Matali’s contribution. A good charioteer makes a
good warrior better. A great charioteer makes a
great Warrior invincible. Arjuna here used
Mahendrastra defensively as well as
Vishoshanastra to dry the targeted Water geysers
used by the Nivatakavachas,
Varunastra to counter the Bhargavastra by asuras
and Shailastra to stop the wind weapons
(vayuastra) then astrasambhadini Maya to
destroy the Asura mayas and then Vajrastra to kill
them.

destroyed the Pauloma and Kalaknja Asuras aka

He killed 60,000 rathis using Raudrastra who
