Disrobing Some Excuses Regarding Gandharvas War Given By Karnandus

Well, I haven't talked about Gandharva War from a long time that's why now I am publishing a post on Gandharva War while clearing many popular misconceptions spread by dear Leftist Karnandus.

Excuse No. 1 :- Karna defeated Gandharvas twice before fleeing from battlefield.

Disrobing :- It is a pure lie. Yes it is true that he defeated and killed some gandharvas but those who were defeated by Karna were the army of Chitrasena, not Chitrasena himself. For example, defeating/killing some Pandavas soldiers in Kuru war doesn't mean defeating Arjuna himself or defeating some Pandava soldiers doesn't mean that the Pandava side got defeated on that day and while mentioning Gandharva War we refers the war of Karna with either all the Gandharvas or with Chitrasena but not with some specific Gandharvas who were defeated by him 😁

Initially the king of Gandharvas (Chitrasena) hadn't interfered in battle, only his armies were fighting with Karna and Kauravas, which you can see in the narrative mentioned below

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

The maharatha sliced off the heads of many gandharvas and in a short while, dispersed all of Chitrasena’s army. Although the gandharvas were killed by the intelligent son of the suta, they returned again in hundreds and thousands. In a short instant, the earth was covered with gandharvas and Chitrasena’s soldiers descended with great force.

But when his (Chitrasena's)  soldiers were oppressed by Karna, Duryodhana, Duhshasana, Vikarna and Shakuni then he interfered in battle

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

On seeing that the gandharvas were frightened, Chitrasena was overcome with anger. He angrily flew up from his seat, resolving to kill them. That brave one began to fight with weapons of maya, following wonderful paths.

And after that the rest is history, we all know what happened there then. Chitrasena along with his armies misused all of them for his dance workout 🤣🤣

Karna ascended on Vikarna's chariot to flee from battle and was routed by the Gandharvas.

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230 and Chapter No. 231, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

With a desire to kill the son of the suta, the immensely strong ones surrounded him from all sides, with swords, javelins, spears and maces. Some sliced off the yoke, others brought down the flagpole. Some brought down the shafts, the horses and the charioteer. Some sliced down the umbrella, others the fenders and the diadem. In many thousands, the gandharvas shattered the chariot. Holding a sword and a shield in his hand, the son of the suta jumped down from the chariot. He leapt onto Vikarna’s chariot and whipped the horses, so that he might escape. Vaishampayana said, ‘O great king! When maharatha Karna was routed by the gandharvas, in the sight of the sons of Dhritarashtra, the entire army fled.

So, Karna did hold up his own against the Gandharvas for some time but finally he gave up the battle and fled away due to lack of skill of fighting whole army of celestials like Arjuna.

Excuse No. 2 :- Chitrasena did group attack on Karna, which is unfair in a war.

Disrobing :- The group attack on a warrior is not unfair in an open war. Only in close war, it is unfair. For example Abhimanyu faced group attack in a close war, not in open war. All the paths were blocked for other warriors which could give entry inside Chakravyuh but Karna-Chitrasena battle was an open  battle. Plus Karna was not alone there, he had support of multiple warriors like Duryodhana, Shakuni, Vikarna and Duhshasana e.tc.

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

Then King Duryodhana, Shakuni Soubala, Duhshasana, Vikarna and other sons of Dhritarashtra ascended chariots that screeched like Garuda and began to kill those soldiers. They fought again, placing Karna at the forefront.

Excuse No. 3 :- Karna had defeated Gandharvas in his conquest

Disrobing :- When he did conquest in his life ? That line of KMG translation of Mahabharata which says that Karna had conquered Gandharvas was just a later event and a mistranslation by Kisari Mohan Ganguli Sir as he had translated Gandhara as Gandharvas which has been corrected by Dr. Bibek Debroy in his translation of BORI CE. There is no line in BORI CE and it's one and only translation i.e the Debroy translation which says that Karna ever defeated any Gandharva in his conquest

Just for your knowledge, There were many tribes of Gandharvas and the tribe of Chitrasena was one of them.

Excuse No. 4 :- Karna was intoxicated with alcohol during his fight with Gandharvas

Disrobing :- To get intoxicated with alcohol one needs to consume alcohol but nowhere it's written that Karna consumed alcohol before or during his fight with Gandharvas hence Karnandus should be able to prove something before blabbering nonsense

Conclusion:- Hence, by analyzing the whole incident it's clear that Karna wasn't competent to fight an army of celestial creatures that's why he fled away from the battlefield
