Disrobing Some Excuses Regarding Gandharvas War Given By Karnandus

Well, I haven't talked about Gandharva War from a long time that's why now I am publishing a post on Gandharva War while clearing many popular misconceptions spread by dear Leftist Karnandus.

Excuse No. 1 :- Karna defeated Gandharvas twice before fleeing from battlefield.

Disrobing :- It is a pure lie. Yes it is true that he defeated and killed some gandharvas but those who were defeated by Karna were the army of Chitrasena, not Chitrasena himself. For example, defeating/killing some Pandavas soldiers in Kuru war doesn't mean defeating Arjuna himself or defeating some Pandava soldiers doesn't mean that the Pandava side got defeated on that day and while mentioning Gandharva War we refers the war of Karna with either all the Gandharvas or with Chitrasena but not with some specific Gandharvas who were defeated by him 😁

Initially the king of Gandharvas (Chitrasena) hadn't interfered in battle, only his armies were fighting with Karna and Kauravas, which you can see in the narrative mentioned below

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

The maharatha sliced off the heads of many gandharvas and in a short while, dispersed all of Chitrasena’s army. Although the gandharvas were killed by the intelligent son of the suta, they returned again in hundreds and thousands. In a short instant, the earth was covered with gandharvas and Chitrasena’s soldiers descended with great force.

But when his (Chitrasena's)  soldiers were oppressed by Karna, Duryodhana, Duhshasana, Vikarna and Shakuni then he interfered in battle

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

On seeing that the gandharvas were frightened, Chitrasena was overcome with anger. He angrily flew up from his seat, resolving to kill them. That brave one began to fight with weapons of maya, following wonderful paths.

And after that the rest is history, we all know what happened there then. Chitrasena along with his armies misused all of them for his dance workout 🤣🤣

Karna ascended on Vikarna's chariot to flee from battle and was routed by the Gandharvas.

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230 and Chapter No. 231, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

With a desire to kill the son of the suta, the immensely strong ones surrounded him from all sides, with swords, javelins, spears and maces. Some sliced off the yoke, others brought down the flagpole. Some brought down the shafts, the horses and the charioteer. Some sliced down the umbrella, others the fenders and the diadem. In many thousands, the gandharvas shattered the chariot. Holding a sword and a shield in his hand, the son of the suta jumped down from the chariot. He leapt onto Vikarna’s chariot and whipped the horses, so that he might escape. Vaishampayana said, ‘O great king! When maharatha Karna was routed by the gandharvas, in the sight of the sons of Dhritarashtra, the entire army fled.

So, Karna did hold up his own against the Gandharvas for some time but finally he gave up the battle and fled away due to lack of skill of fighting whole army of celestials like Arjuna.

Excuse No. 2 :- Chitrasena did group attack on Karna, which is unfair in a war.

Disrobing :- The group attack on a warrior is not unfair in an open war. Only in close war, it is unfair. For example Abhimanyu faced group attack in a close war, not in open war. All the paths were blocked for other warriors which could give entry inside Chakravyuh but Karna-Chitrasena battle was an open  battle. Plus Karna was not alone there, he had support of multiple warriors like Duryodhana, Shakuni, Vikarna and Duhshasana e.tc.

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 230, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

Then King Duryodhana, Shakuni Soubala, Duhshasana, Vikarna and other sons of Dhritarashtra ascended chariots that screeched like Garuda and began to kill those soldiers. They fought again, placing Karna at the forefront.

Excuse No. 3 :- Karna had defeated Gandharvas in his conquest

Disrobing :- When he did conquest in his life ? That line of KMG translation of Mahabharata which says that Karna had conquered Gandharvas was just a later event and a mistranslation by Kisari Mohan Ganguli Sir as he had translated Gandhara as Gandharvas which has been corrected by Dr. Bibek Debroy in his translation of BORI CE. There is no line in BORI CE and it's one and only translation i.e the Debroy translation which says that Karna ever defeated any Gandharva in his conquest

Just for your knowledge, There were many tribes of Gandharvas and the tribe of Chitrasena was one of them.

Excuse No. 4 :- Karna was intoxicated with alcohol during his fight with Gandharvas

Disrobing :- To get intoxicated with alcohol one needs to consume alcohol but nowhere it's written that Karna consumed alcohol before or during his fight with Gandharvas hence Karnandus should be able to prove something before blabbering nonsense

Conclusion:- Hence, by analyzing the whole incident it's clear that Karna wasn't competent to fight an army of celestial creatures that's why he fled away from the battlefield

Why Pandavas Couldn't Save Draupadi In The Dice Hall?

It's time to expose the Karnandus by decoding the actual reason of Pandavas not saving Draupadi at the dice hall.
First of all, Bhima was angry at Yudhisthira for staking Draupadi and tried to burn the hands of his eldest brother there but Arjuna stopped him as crossing elder's brother was against Dharma

Sabha Parva, Chapter No. 61, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

But I think you committed a most improper act in staking Droupadi. She did not deserve this. After obtaining the Pandavas, this maiden is suffering this despicable and cruel oppression from the Kouravas only because of your act. O king! It is because of her that my anger descends on you. I will burn your hands. O Sahadeva! Bring the fire.”

‘Arjuna said, “O Bhimasena! Never before have you uttered words like these. The cruel enemies have destroyed your pride in dharma. You should not make the desires of the enemy come true. Observe the supreme dharma. According to dharma, one should never cross one’s
elder brother. The king was challenged and he followed the dharma of the kshatriyas. He gambled because of the desires of the enemy. That is our great deed.”

Now coming to the main point, here are some proofs which will give the answer regarding this topic

1) Here Yudhisthira say that he tolerated Draupadi's insult because he didn't want to see the slaughter of Kauravas

Udhyoga Parva, Chapter No. 31, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘“Then you should repeatedly speak to the intolerant Prince Suyodhana, entreating him when he is seated in the midst of the Kurus. When Krishna was brought alone into the assembly hall, evil was done towards her. But we ignored it patiently, so that the Kurus might not be slaughtered. The Pandavas have borne hardships earlier and will do so again, though
they are stronger now. All the Kurus know this. ‘O peaceful one! You sent us into exile, with deerskin as our garments. We bore those miseries, so that the Kurus might not be slaughtered.

Note :- In reality,it was Yudhisthira who tolerated Draupadi's insult for this reason which is mentioned above but other pandavas were ready to do battle with Kauravas in dice hall which will be proven in other slides

2) Vidura says that Yudhisthira has undergone many hardships because he was a follower of non-violence and used to respect Dhristrastra so it is clear that Yudhisthira didn't want any war even in his difficult period

Udhyog Parva, Chapter No. 34, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

O Indra among kings! He is supreme among those who uphold dharma and because of his compassion and non-violence, and because of his respect towards you, he has undergone
many hardships.”’

3) Here Bhima says that other Pandavas are obedient to Yudhisthira, that's the reason they tolerated the acts of Kauravas as they couldn't kill them until Yudhisthira orders them to do that

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 34, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

Protected by the wielder of the
Gandiva, our kingdom could not even have been robbed by Shakra. But because of our obedience to you, it was stolen in front of our eyes. While we were still alive, our riches were taken away from us because of you, like bilva fruit or cattle from those who are crippled. O descendant of the Bharata lineage! You are always firm in desiring dharma. But it is because
we sought to do what is pleasing to you, that we now face this great calamity. O bull among the Bharata lineage! It was because our selves were under your control that we are now ploughing our friends and providing delight to our enemies. It was our stupidity that we did
not kill the sons of Dhritarashtra. But because we followed your commands, that evil deed is now tormenting us. O king! Look at you, living in a home meant for animals. This is the act of a coward, not one served by the strong. This is not approved by Krishna, or Bibhatsu, or
Abhimanyu, or Srinjaya, or I myself, or the two sons of Madri.

4) Bhima again says that other Pandavas didn't kill Kauravas because of Yudhisthira as we saw in one of previous slides where Yudhisthira said that he didn't want to see the death of Kauravas that's the reason, he tolerated Draupadi's insult.

Vana Parva, Chapter No. 173, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘Once, Vayu’s intrepid son was seated near the king, together with Jishnu and the twins, the equals of the king of the gods. In private, he gently spoke these beneficial words. “O king of the Kurus! In order to ensure that your oath remained true and to do that which would make you happy, we followed you into the forest and did not kill Suyodhana, together with his followers. We have lived here for eleven years. We are deserving of happiness, but
Suyodhana has grasped that happiness.

Conclusion:- Bhima and Arjuna could do nothing there to save Draupadi as they were bound down by the noose of Dharma. Even Karna himself said it in Virat war when he was about to fight with Arjuna.

Virata Parva, Chapter No. 55, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

If your rage was restrained earlier because you were bound down by the noose of dharma, you are tied down even now, though you consider yourself to be free. You say that you are conversant with
dharma and artha

Did Arjuna Really Break The Rule Of Exile By Going Swarga For 5 Years ?

Well Karna fans say that Arjuna break the rule of exile as Arjuna had went to Swarga to learn divine weapons from all the gods for 5 years during the exile but the truth is that Arjuna didn't break any rule in that case. No doubt Karna fans are stupid just like their idol, they never read epic properly. Actually the exile was only for Yudhisthira. Other Pandavas just followed him out of love for his eldest brother. See some proofs regarding it in the next slides

1). Shakuni says that if Yudhisthira faces defeat in dice game then he (Yudhisthira) will have to go exile along with Draupadi. Nowhere he included the names of other Pandavas in stake and this proof is from the actual event then it is clear that the exile was only for the eldest Pandava

Sabha Parva, Chapter No. 67, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘Shakuni said, “O bull among the Bharata lineage! The old one returned all your riches and I worship him for that. But listen to me, because there is one more stake with great riches. If
we are defeated by you in gambling, we will enter the great forest for twelve years. We will wear the skins of ruru deer and spend a thirteenth year in disguise, but in inhabited places. If recognized, we will return to the forest for another twelve years. But if you are defeated by
us, together with Krishna, you will live in the forest for twelve years, clad in deerskin. When the thirteenth year is over, as is proper, each will obtain his own kingdom back. O Yudhishthira! O descendant of the Bharata lineage! With this stake, let us ready the dice and
play another gamble with us.”

Although the later event does not matter in Mahabharata, still there are some cross references from the later event, they also says the samething, have a look on those cross references

A) Here Bhima says that other Pandavas followed him just to make Yudhisthira's oath truth

B). Dhristrashtra says that other Pandavas left for the forest because of their love for Yudhishthira not because of any kind of commitment, promise or rule.

Adi Parva, Chapter No. 01, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘“O Sanjaya! I had no hope of victory when I heard that the grieving and righteous Pandava brothers left for the forest, suffering out of love for the eldest.

Since the three evidences are sufficient enough to prove that the exile was not for Arjuna, thus he went to exile just for his eldest brother hence he didn't break any rule by going Swarga.

Arjuna - The Chief Justice of Hastinapur

Another unknown but awesome fact of Mahabharata is Arjuna had great potential of fairly judging people that's why he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Hastinapur by Yudhishthira after Kuru War.

Shanti Parva, Chapter No. 41, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

Yudhishthira, the great king, instructed that Phalguna should
act against the circles of enemies and punish those who were unruly.

Arjuna - One Of The Greatest Economists Of Mahabharata

Well while thinking about Economics and Economists the names comes to people's mind are mostly of Kaliyuga's people because most of the people don't know that great economists existed before Kaliyuga also and one such economist is none other than the greatest warrior of Mahabharata Arjuna ! Yes Arjuna wasn't only the greatest archer but also one of the greatest economists and capitalists of Mahabharata. Mahabharata is filled with statements of Arjuna and other people which reflected the knowledge of Arjuna regarding economics and his approach towards economy. Here are those statements

1). Arjuna emphasized on the importance of Agriculture, trade, animal husbandry and other industries for the growth and development of economy. He also explained the importance of Artha

Shanti Parva, Chapter No.161, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘When he stopped, the attentive Partha, who knew the true words about artha, spoke. “O king! This world is the arena of action and such conduct is praised—agriculture, trade, animal husbandry and
many kinds of artisanship. Among all these tasks, there is nothing that transcends the need for artha. The sacred texts have said that without artha, dharma and kama cannot occur. A victorious person obtains artha and can pursue supreme dharma. He is capable of following kama, which is difficult for
those with unclean souls to pursue. The sacred texts say that dharma and kama take the form of artha. These two can be attained through the successful acquisition of artha. Those who have been born in superior lineages surround the man who possesses artha, just as the beings always worship Brahma.

2). While explaining the importance of Artha, Arjuna beautifully emphasized on employee management ( No doubt Arjuna had great knowledge of HR Management also )

Shanti Parva, Chapter No. 161, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

A person who possesses artha can maintain his servants in pleasure and exert the rod against his enemies. O best among intelligent ones! That is the
reason my view is accurate.

3) According to Arjuna, nothing in the world was superior to wealth

Shanti Parva, Chapter No. 20, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

Devasthana spoke appropriate words in reply to Yudhishthira. “Phalguna spoke words to the effect that there is nothing superior to wealth. Listen attentively as I explain this to you. O Ajatashatru! You
have conquered the entire earth through dharma

4). According to Arjuna, accumulation of wealth was done by learned ones

Shanti Parva, Chapter No. 8, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

The learned ones have said that one must study the three kinds of knowledge and always make efforts to accumulate wealth and perform sacrifices.

5). Arjuna hated poverty the most and he explained like an intelligent Capitalist that why being rich is very important in the world

Shanti Parva, Chapter No. 08, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

O king! Who amongst us will pardon an act of our riches being robbed? If a poor person stands next to one’s own self, that poor person is abused. Poverty
causes degradation in this world and you should not praise it. O king! One who is degraded sorrows. One who is poor sorrows. I cannot see any difference between one who is degraded and one who is poor. Here and there, all the rites are extended and accumulated through wealth, like streams flowing
down mountains. O lord of men! Dharma, kama and heaven result from artha. Without artha, the world will not be able to sustain its life. Like an inferior river during the summer, all the rites of a person with limited intelligence are destroyed in the absence of wealth. One who possesses riches possesses friends. One who possesses riches possesses relatives. One who possesses riches is a man
in this world. One who possesses riches is learned. A person who doesn’t possess riches is incapable of obtaining riches only by desiring it. Riches follow riches, like elephants follow mighty elephants. O lord of men! Dharma, kama, heaven, delight, anger, learning, self-control—all of these
result from artha. The lineage is extended because of artha. Dharma is spread because of riches

6). One of the names of Arjuna was Dhananjaya because he had obtained the wealth of all the countries

Virata Parva, Chapter No.39, Mahabharata CE by BORI, Dr. Bibek Debroy translation

‘Arjuna replied, “I have conquered all the countries and obtained all their wealth. I stand in
the midst of riches. That is the reason I am known as Dhananjaya.

So by reading all the references provided here, it can be safely concluded that India has not only the first scientists, engineers and doctors but also the first economists and capitalists of the world. Arjuna was one of the greatest economists and capitalists of Mahabharata.
