MISCONCEPTION : KARNA DEFEATED BHAGADATTA

It is a very common misconception among many people that Karna had defeated Bhagadatta in his conquest. Well KMG did mention Karna defeating Bhagadatta in his conquest but according to most researched version that is BORI Karna defeating Bhagadatta is an interpolation. Yes, you heard it right that according to BORI Karna never defeated Bhagadatta and in his life.

In KMG there are two narratives which are used by Karna fans to prove that Karna had defeated Bhagadatta in his conquest.The first narrative is of the Vana Parva where the Digvijaya of Karna is described.But according to BORI the whole description of Digvijaya of Karna is an interpolation.BORI clearly removed that section where the Digvijaya of Karna is described. Narrative :- O Karna, vanquish the Kamvojas having proceeded to Rajpura. Many kings, amongst whom Nagnajit was the foremost, while staying in Girivraja, as also the Amvashthas, the Videhas, and the Gandharvas, were all vanquished by thee. The Kiratas, fierce in battle, dwelling in the fastness of Himavat, were formerly, O Karna, made by thee to own Duryodhana's sway.

Here it is written that Karna had conquered Kiratas and Bhagadatta was a ruler of Kiratas.Guys it is true that Bhagadatta was the ruler of Kiratas but there were multiple Kiratas that time.

Those elephants are ridden by Kiratas difficult of defeat in battle. They are accomplished in fighting from elephants, and are all sprung from the race of Agni. Formerly, they were all vanquished in battle by Savyasachin. They are now waiting for me carefully, under the orders of Duryodhana. Slaying with my shafts, O king, these Kiratas difficult of defeat in battle,

Here Arjuna also fought the ruler of Kiratas.So as you all can see Bhagadatta was not the only ruler of Kiratas that time. Hence, Karna conquering Kiratas doesn't prove that he defeated Bhagadatt

VANA PARVA -Section 174

Narr:- ‘Having spent a happy month in Badari, in due course, they went to the land of Subahu, the
king of the kiratas, following the route that other brave ones had traversed earlier. They
passed the lands of chinas,11 tukharas,12 daradas,13 darvas14 and kunindas15 full of many
jewels. The brave ones crossed the difficult terrain of the Himalaya region and saw Subahu’s
city. When he heard that all the sons and grandsons of kings had arrived, King Subahu was
delighted and came out to welcome them

Here, it is clearly written that Pandavas visited King Suvahu who was also a Kirata King near Himalaya.And the most important fact is when Arjuna defeated Bhagadatta then it is clearly because he really defeated him then why it is not mentioned in the case of Karna ? Because Karna never conquered Bhagadatta.

The second foolish logic given by Karna fan page admin is Bhagadatta was defeated by Jarasandha and Karna overpowered Jarasandha so Karna is superior to Bhagadatta.And to prove this foolish claim he has used a narrative where it is written that Bhagadatta bowed down before Jarasandha so Bhagadatta was defeated by Jarasandha.Guys, bowing down to someone means to show your respect towards that particular person and it doesn't mean that you are defeated by him or he is superior to you.It is nothing but a stupid hypothesis of Karna fans that Bhagadatta was defeated by Jarasandha.Even nowhere it is written that Karna defeated Jarasandha or Karna was superior to Jarasandha.Jarasandha was just pleased with Karna.Nowhere it is written that Karna defeated Jarasandha or Jarasandha defeated Bhagadatta.

Conclusion :- Karna never defeated Bhagadatta
